North Wales Counselling Service, based in Colwyn Bay, provides private counselling and therapeutic intervention to adults and young people. The service also works closely with schools, EAPs, and a variety of external organisations and charities who provide funding for talking therapies.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a process which gives you the opportunity to talk through your thoughts and
feelings with a trained professional in a safe, confidential, and supportive environment.
People come to counselling for all sorts of reasons; maybe you are feeling overwhelmed with the pressures of life or work, or perhaps you have experienced a bereavement or traumatic event and are struggling to cope. Working with a counsellor allows you to explore your feelings and experiences, and build upon your own resources to uncover the solutions to your problems, or the gain the resilience to move past the things you may not be able to change.
Choosing a counsellor
Counselling is not a regulated profession, and this means that finding a suitably qualified therapist can be a minefield. Therapists listed on this website have been selected by the Director, and have been able to demonstrate that they are appropriately qualified, insured, and are receiving adequate clinical supervision in line with the guidelines stipulated by the primary membership bodies for the profession (BACP NCS , UKCP).
